Hungary abstained on Thursday from signing a joint declaration of the B9 summit and the Northern Allies in Bucharest, through which Ukraine is supported, and Russia – condemned for triggering the war. The meeting in Romania was attended by the leader from Kiev, Vladimir Zelenski, and the head of NATP, Mark Rutte.

“Hungary wishes to express a constructive abstention. In this regard, Hungary is not able to support the current wording of the statement as agreed language. Any decision regarding the use of this agreed language in the future will be made by the future Government of Hungary,” is stated in the viewpoint formulated by Budapest, at the end of the statement.

The participants at the B9 summit have undertaken the “joint commitment to strengthen cooperation in the field of security and defense across the entire Eastern Flank of NATO, recognizing the continuous strategic line from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea and up to the Nordic and Arctic regions”, as well as the decision to build a “NATO 3.0 by promoting a stronger Europe within a stronger NATO”.

Concurrently, NATO allies condemn sabotage actions, cyber attacks, hybrid attacks, and airspace violations on the Eastern Flank of NATO carried out by Russia, according to Antena3.

Also, “the B9 and Nordic allies remain firm in condemning Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and we reaffirm our support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders”.

The B9 and Nordic allies support, in the Bucharest declaration, the idea of a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, “in accordance with international law and based on solid and credible security guarantees”.
