The local armistice agreed upon by Russia and Ukraine will allow the commencement of repair works on the electric power transport line near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), announced the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as cited by BBC News.

“Rafael Grossi (the Director General of the IAEA) thanks both parties for the agreement on this new ‘temporary window of peace’, intended to allow the resumption of electric power transfer between the distribution stations of the ZNPP and the Zaporizhzhia Thermal Power Plant,” the IAEA wrote on Sunday, on the X social network.

Russian forces seized the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant – the largest in Europe – in the first weeks of the invasion in Ukraine, at the beginning of 2022.

In a 28-point draft plan, developed by the United States, it is proposed to restart the plant under the control of the IAEA, and the electric power produced to be equally distributed between Russia and Ukraine, notes BBC News.
