Yesterday, the ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, Oleg Ozerov, arrived in Comrat. The information about the visit was confirmed to Disinfo.md by sources within the power structures of Gagauzia.

According to the sources, the diplomat intended to have a meeting with several Gagauzian politicians, considered close to the Kremlin, in one of the restaurants in Comrat.

At the moment when the meeting participants were in the venue, the police received a call about a supposed explosive device placed in the restaurant. This information was confirmed to Disinfo.md by sources within the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Video footage from the scene was published by Radio Moldova Comrat.

Immediately after the alert, police crews, sappers, representatives of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, ambulances, and fire trucks intervened on the scene. The area was isolated, and the customers and staff were evacuated.

As a result of the incident, the planned meeting did not take place. Up to this point, the authorities have not published official information regarding the results of the checks or the origin of the bomb alert call.
