Russian businessmen “donated” nearly 400 billion rubles (about 4 billion euros) to the budget, but The Moscow Times writes that in the meantime, the deficit of the federal budget of Russia for the period January-July has reached 6.455 trillion rubles.
Russian businessmen have transferred hundreds of billions of rubles to the federal budget, following the call launched by Vladimir Putin for voluntary contributions, against the backdrop of a record budget deficit facing the country.
By mid-August, voluntary donations amounted to 383.69 billion rubles (3.89 billion euros), reports the economic publication “Vedomosti”, citing data from the “Electronic Budget”.
Before Putin’s meeting with business representatives in March, during which, according to sources, he proposed that entrepreneurs contribute to the budget, the contributions of non-governmental organizations totaled 15.6 billion rubles.
In the following month, donations multiplied tenfold, reaching 159.7 billion rubles. In May, they increased by 45.5%, in June by 27%, and in July and the first half of August by another 30%.
