Prices in Russia continue to rise rapidly, reflecting the increase in VAT. Inflation for the period 13–19 January was 0.45%, and since the beginning of the year – 1.72%, reported Rosstat.

At present, the average daily price increase in January is nine times higher than in December, twice as high as in January 2025, and three times higher than in January 2023 and 2024, calculated Daniil Nametkin, director of the Center for Investment Analysis and Macroeconomic Research (CSR).

In annual terms, inflation accelerated to 6.47% (from 6.27% a week ago and 5.59% at the end of 2025), according to estimates by the Ministry of Economy. In the last week, non-food goods have increased in price on average by 0.17%, food items by 0.56%, and services by 0.67%. Excluding vegetables and fruits (which have increased in price on average by 2.7%), the price increase for food products was 0.39%.
