Iran has issued new threats against Bulgaria, after Sofia allowed the United States to use a military base for refueling aircraft involved in operations in the Middle East, according to Novinite.
Tehran maintains that making Bulgarian territory and military infrastructure available to the US constitutes participation in aggression against Iran, and warns that it reserves the right to respond. The new threats come after Iran previously warned that it could strike American military targets in Europe, including in Bulgaria and Cyprus, if Washington intensifies its war against Tehran. Additionally, Greece moved a Patriot anti-aircraft system to the island of Crete on Sunday to strengthen the defense of a significant military base due to potential Iranian attacks on installations where American military equipment is located in the eastern part of the Mediterranean.
The fear of a possible Iranian attack on a European state has increased after two close associates of the Tehran regime previously stated to the Financial Times that Iranian forces have analyzed the possibility of striking American targets in countries located in southeastern Europe, such as Bulgaria, which last month approved the use of the Bezmer air base for American refueling aircraft.

In this context, Iran reiterated that the deployment of American refueling aircraft in Bulgaria violated international law and represented support for the military operations of the US and Israel against Tehran, also acknowledging that the aircraft have since left the country.
