Iran threatens to “irreversibly destroy” US-related energy facilities in the Middle East if its power plants are targeted.

The president of the Iranian parliament, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, threatened to destroy vital infrastructure in the Gulf region in an “irreversible” manner if the US and Israel attack the country’s power plants.

In a post on X, Ghalibaf says that vital infrastructure, energy facilities, and oil installations throughout the region will be considered “legitimate targets,” reports BBC.

He warned that the price of oil will increase “for a long time.”

The warning comes after President Trump declared that the US will “destroy” Iranian power plants if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened before a 48-hour deadline – the waterway is vital for global oil transportation.

“I’m terribly worried… without electricity, Iran will be destroyed,” a woman from Tehran told BBC Persian.

In the meantime, Israel launched a wave of attacks on the Iranian capital overnight, and Iran retaliated with missiles.
