The advisor to the Ukrainian Minister of Defense, Sergei Beskrestnov, known by the codename “Flash”, asserts that Ukraine will respond symmetrically if Russia intensifies attacks on Kiev and critical Ukrainian infrastructure. The official commented on the threats recently launched by Moscow regarding new strikes on the Ukrainian capital.

“Unfortunately, the attacks will continue. But we will also respond. If they try to terrorize Kiev, our businesses, and decision-making centers, the response will be very painful for Russia”, declared “Flash”.

According to him, the Kremlin’s aggressive rhetoric reflects more Moscow’s frustration due to the lack of results on the front and the successful strikes of Ukraine on Russian refineries.

The counselor reminded that Ukraine has already demonstrated that it can strike even Moscow and the Moscow region, and Russia can no longer consider its own territory completely safe from attacks.

The major issue for Kiev remains the ballistic missiles

Beskrestnov acknowledges that Russia will continue air strikes on Ukraine, but says the situation regarding “Shahed” type kamikaze drones is significantly better than last year.

According to him, the efficiency of drone interception has increased due to mobile groups and new defense systems developed by Ukraine. However, the greatest threat to Kiev remains Russian ballistic missiles.

“We have only one major problem – ballistic missiles. Ukraine urgently needs interceptors for the Patriot systems,” said the Ukrainian official.

He emphasized that Ukraine still relies on its Western partners for the supply of anti-aircraft ammunition.

According to estimates from Ukrainian intelligence services, Russia produces approximately 60 ballistic missiles per month, but these reserves are not unlimited.
