Saint Serafim prayed for the creation of nuclear weapons, believes Russian Patriarch Kirill. The church leader made the statements in front of a cathedral in the Novgorod region.
In the church he visited, the relics of Saint Seraphim are preserved, according to the publication Meduza. The cleric implied that, in his opinion, God contributed to the creation of nuclear weapons.
“The scientists who worked here, in Sarov, created the Russian atomic bomb, which thwarted the enemy’s plans to destroy and enslave our Homeland. Thus, through the work of the scientists who worked here, the grace and mercy of God have undoubtedly descended upon our country. (…)”
The fact that this happened exactly in the place where Saint Seraphim prayed is not a coincidence. I spoke with physicists and scientists who ensure the security of our country. Many of them are Orthodox, and in conversation with them, I realized that they are fully aware of the fact that the creation of a terrifying weapon in our country, in this place, was not accidental. All of this happened, among other things, due to the prayers of Father Seraphim,” said the Patriarch.
The city of Sarov, which Kiril spoke about, hosts the Federal Nuclear Center of Russia – the Research Institute for Experimental Physics, according to realitatea.md. This is not the first statement in which the cleric says that weapons of mass destruction have divine origin.
