Entrepreneur Vasile Tofan is the candidate for the position of Prime Minister proposed by the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), a party that holds the parliamentary majority. The announcement was made on Friday, July 10, by the party leader, Igor Grosu.

The politician stated that the decision was made following discussions with Vasile Tofan regarding the vision and priorities of the future Government, reports Moldova1.

“A few minutes ago, the meeting of the Action and Solidarity Party faction ended, during which we discussed for several hours with Mr. Vasile Tofan, the candidate for the position of Prime Minister, whom we will propose tomorrow during consultations with President Maia Sandu”, announced Igor Grosu, through a video message published on social networks.

In turn, Vasile Tofan stated that accepting the candidacy represents both an honor and a major responsibility.

“It is a great honor, but, I admit, I also feel the weight of the moment. It’s a huge responsibility, because people’s expectations are very high and we have a lot of work to do”, he stated.

The candidate designated by PAS said that he does not have answers to all challenges, but promises to dedicate his entire experience to achieving the assumed objectives.

“I cannot say that I have the answers to all questions, but I can promise that all my energy, all my talent, everything I know will be channeled to achieve what we have set out to do, with the number one objective being to complete European integration and to sign the accession agreement in 2028”, declared Vasile Tofan.

Tofan’s candidacy will be put forward by PAS during the consultations with President Maia Sandu, scheduled for Saturday, July 11th.

If the proposal is agreed upon by the head of state, and Vasile Tofan is nominated, the candidate will have 15 days at his disposal to develop the government program, form the team, and request a vote of confidence from the Parliament.
