Chechen military units loyal to leader Ramzan Kadyrov are reportedly prepared to intervene in Iran to support the armed forces of Tehran, in the event of a possible American ground invasion, according to information cited by kyivpost.com.
The Iranian television station Press TV reported that these forces would have declared their readiness to enter into conflict if Washington decides to escalate military operations beyond air strikes. According to the source, the conflict is described as a “religious war”, and any potential intervention would be considered “jihad”.
The information has not been independently confirmed and there is, at this moment, no official position from the Russian or Chechen authorities. However, they emerge against the backdrop of increasing tensions between Iran and the United States, following weeks of air strikes attributed to the USA and Israel on Iranian targets.
Tehran has responded with repeated missile and drone attacks, targeting Israel and American positions in the region. Meanwhile, American officials have not confirmed the existence of plans for a ground intervention, although military pressure on Iran remains high, alongside diplomatic efforts.
