The influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un stated on Wednesday that she is unaware of recent contacts between her brother and Donald Trump, after the American president hinted that he is in touch with his North Korean counterpart, reports AFP and News.ro. Moreover, she denied that Pyongyang would send 50,000 soldiers to fight alongside Russia in the war against Ukraine, as the leader from Kiev had claimed, according to Reuters.
“Regarding the recent information coming from Washington about the contacts between the leaders of North Korea and the United States, I have absolutely no knowledge of this and this is, undoubtedly, the only issue related to the foreign policy of our highest authorities that I am not aware of,” Kim Yo Jong stated in a statement published on Wednesday.
She also added that Donald Trump’s decision to shorten the military exercises that the USA initiated together with Seoul “does not merit any comment”.
“Regarding the reduction in the scale of joint military exercises initiated by the United States and South Korea, announced by the American president, we do not consider it worthy of comment and we find it completely uninteresting,” stated Kim Yo Jong.
Trump declared on Monday that he received a response from Kim after he scaled down the scope of the US military exercises with Seoul, and described North Korea as “non-threatening and respectful”.
