On April 23, Vadim Krasnoselski, enacted a purported law regarding additional guarantees for the “presidents” of the Transnistrian region, which ensures lifetime allowances, after resignation, to the separatist officials. According to the document, former officials will receive a monthly allowance, in addition to their pension, and their life will be ensured.

Former leaders from Tiraspol and their family members will be granted the respective facilities and security if they reside more than 183 days a year in the region, according to the publication Zona de Securitate.

Also, the life and health of former dignitaries are subject to mandatory state insurance from the budget of the alleged republic. Ex-officials will be granted annually about 50,000 Transnistrian rubles for spa treatment, former “presidents” and heads of the “Supreme Soviet” have the right to have, from the budget account, advisors and aides.

Upon request, former separatist dignitaries may still receive for lifetime use a service car with a driver, and the complete maintenance of the vehicle will be covered by the regional budget. They will also have their landline and mobile phone bills paid, including for international calls, as well as internet access, and their existing numbers will be retained.

However, there are a number of exceptions. Guarantees are not granted to those who, after the end of their term, have been convicted – both for acts committed during the exercise of their function, and afterwards. This implies that Evgheni Șevciuk will not benefit from a lifetime indemnity.

The first Transnistrian leader, Igor Smirnov, will receive an annual unique indemnity worth over 246,000 rubles and coverage of expenses for treatment outside the region – 145,000 Transnistrian rubles annually. He will also be granted a meeting space, funded by the public budget.

The former separatist leader, Evgheni Șevciuk, however, will not benefit from such privileges, as he was convicted by the regime in Tiraspol.
