The Kremlin on Wednesday ruled out European participation in the next round of talks on the war in Ukraine, scheduled to take place in November in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, EFE reports, as cited by Agerpres.
“We agreed that trilateral talks involving Russia, Ukraine and the United States would resume,” Yuri Ushakov, the Kremlin’s foreign policy adviser, told public television.
“They (the Europeans) can attend if they buy tickets. But no one intends to invite them to the negotiating table,” he added.
Ushakov had already said on Tuesday that it was too early to discuss appointing a European negotiator for talks on Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has always advocated for his European allies to be involved in the negotiations, and even more strongly since tensions arose between Kyiv and US President Donald Trump.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Europe had offered nothing new in its discussions with President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.
