Russia wants to know if the American President Donald Trump has indeed changed his position on the war in Ukraine, as suggested by the French President Emmanuel Macron at the G7 summit, stated on Wednesday the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who insisted that Russia remains committed to the agreements made last year at the summit in Alaska between the Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump.

Macron, who hosted the G7 summit in the French city of Evian, argued that during the discussions there, Trump agreed with the idea that Russia does not want peace in Ukraine and that this represented “a real change of approach” from the US, according to Reuters, EFE and Agerpres agencies. Trump himself urged Russia to make peace with Ukraine, after what he described as a “very good” meeting with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski in Evian.

Regarding Ukraine, we want to understand what happened at Evian“, said Sergey Lavrov at an event in Moscow. “The Americans have not yet told us what their conclusions are after the Evian summit or what will be the direction of their future action“, mentioned the head of Russian diplomacy.

He also referred to another statement by Macron, namely that the agreements reached last August by Trump and Putin at the Anchorage (Alaska) summit were “buried” in Evian.
