Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked Russian leader Vladimir Putin to stop the war in Ukraine. The two officials met at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.
“Every day of war sets humanity back; we must work to end hostilities (…) We must move from an endless war to the end of war. This is India’s message. We need the end of war, not an endless war,” declared the Indian Prime Minister.
Modi emphasized that his administration will support peace negotiations in Ukraine, reports Meduza.
At the end of July, the Kazakh president Kassym-Jomart Tokaev, during discussions with Putin in Omsk, called for the “freezing” of the Russo-Ukrainian war and a return to negotiations.
The Kremlin’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, recently stated that, considering Kiev’s position, “a freeze as such is impossible” and mentioned that a condition for the ceasefire would be for Russia to achieve its objectives in the war.
