Lithuania is preparing to produce Ukrainian drones on its territory, based on a defense industry cooperation agreement signed with Ukraine.
The Lithuanian Minister of Defense, Robertas Kaunas, stated that the practical implementation of the agreement, called Drone Deal, has already begun. The document was signed in May by the presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania, Volodimir Zelenski and Gitanas Nausėda.
The drones will be manufactured in Lithuania using Ukrainian technologies, as part of a project funded by joint investments. The authorities in Vilnius maintain that the initiative will contribute both to the expansion of Ukraine’s production capacities and the strengthening of the Lithuanian defense industry.
The Ministry of Defense of Lithuania is already forming a special team that will coordinate the launch of production and collaboration between Lithuanian engineers and Ukrainian specialists.
