The Belarusian leader, Alexander Lukashenko, a loyal ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has warned Donald Trump that if the United States were to supply Ukraine with Tomahawk cruise missiles, it would mean “nuclear war,” reported The Independent.
The leader of the White House is reportedly considering a request from Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, regarding the delivery of Tomahawk missiles, which have a range of about 1,500 miles. These would allow Kiev to strike much deeper into Russian territory, targeting strategic objectives such as enemy infrastructure, military bases, and the invader’s ammunition factories.
According to the cited source, Volodymyr Zelensky argued that increasing the weapons available to his country would put more pressure on the Kremlin to accept a peace deal. Putin, however, warned that such a step would jeopardize the improvement in US-Russian relations achieved by Donald Trump – relations that, nevertheless, have failed to end a war that has been going on for more than three years.
