US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Monday that there are fractures within the leadership in Tehran, and expressed optimism about the possibility of collaborating with Iranian officials who, he said, have conveyed some positive messages to Washington in private, according to AFP and EFE agencies, quoted by Agerpres. At the same time, the US Secretary of State spoke about the US objectives in Iran. Rubio also said that the Strait of Hormuz will “reopen in one way or another”.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio listed, on ABC, what he considers to be the objectives of the war with Iran, criticizing those who say that the administration has not been clear about them.

“Here are the clear objectives of the operation. You should note them: 1. The destruction of the Iranian air forces 2. The destruction of their navy 3. The drastic destruction of their missile launch capabilities 4. The destruction of their factories,” Rubio declared.

Speaking about negotiations, Rubio said that there are “fractures” among the members of the Iranian hierarchy, and the United States believes that personalities who have the “power to act” will eventually prevail, Rubio said on the Good Morning America show on ABC.
