Residents of Kiev are urged to temporarily leave the city. The call came from the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko.
The official suggested that people who have relatives or friends outside the locality should consider whether they can temporarily leave the city, writes realitatea.md. In an interview for AFP, the official said that the attacks on the Ukrainian capital are intensifying.
“Every day, there are new reports of destroyed buildings, injuries, and deaths. The bombing of our city is intensifying. Today, it is a matter of survival,” said the mayor.
Klitschko has ruled out a complete evacuation of the city. The mayor hinted that in such a situation, Russian troops could freely occupy Kiev.
According to the official, in the Ukrainian capital, backup heating systems are being prepared and stocks of fuel, food, and drinking water are being created for the winter, but the worst-case scenario cannot be ruled out if the air defense fails to repel the attacks.
