A Russian blogger Z criticized a recently published video clip in which Russian President Vladimir Putin is seen behind the wheel of the presidential car, stating that such materials only serve to damage his image.
In the video published by the Kremlin, Putin is seen behind the wheel, meeting his first teacher.
However, the material was not well received by Russian bloggers. Lawyer Ilia Remeslo, who long supported the war, but recently switched to the opposition, called the new tactic a mistake, writes Dialog.ua.
According to this, while society is concerned with internet restrictions and Russia’s internal problems, the Kremlin is trying to sell people the image of an “ordinary Putin”.</
In his opinion, “things will only get worse for Putin”.
“It should not be shown how the president spends his time carefree, meets with friends, rests, exercises, tells silly jokes (as was already in the video with the barley porridge).
All these actions do nothing but further damage the president’s rating. Nevertheless, the PR people do not stop, which offers us very good prospects: for Putin, things will only get worse,” he wrote.
Another blogger assumed that the video might have been an attempt by the Kremlin to counteract the information appearing in the Western press, according to which Putin is in a bunker.
The cited publication writes that for the Russian president, a high rating has traditionally represented a key instrument for legitimizing power and a signal to the elites about the lack of an alternative to his leadership, so any sign of declining support causes concern in the Kremlin.
The decline in popularity ahead of the State Duma elections, against the backdrop of the prolonged war and accumulated socio-economic tensions, is considered a dangerous scenario, as it deprives the authorities of the opportunity to demonstrate the “unity of the people” and may provoke internal conflicts within the state apparatus.
