NATO forces should intervene in the Russian region of Kaliningrad, in the event of an attack launched by Russia on Poland, declared General Jaroslaw Gromadzinski, former commander of Eurocorps, a European military structure affiliated with NATO and the EU, in an interview given to the Polish press.
“Our reason for being is to show that we are a strong and determined country. Including, if we are attacked, we allow ourselves the opportunity to enter and eliminate the threat from the Königsberg region (the former name of the current Russian enclave Kaliningrad, located between the NATO states Poland and Lithuania – ed.)”, said Gromadzinki.
In Gromadzinski’s opinion, Poland’s strategy should directly foresee the possibility of neutralizing the threat coming from Kaliningrad, and when deciding on an attack, Moscow should consider the consequences of such actions for Kaliningrad.
