The Russian Government has approved the list of equipment for the “Fundamentals of Homeland Security and Defense” (OBZR) discipline cabinets. Schools are set to purchase kits for assembling drones, flight simulators, and software for conducting virtual “air races”, reports TV channel Dojdi.

According to documents cited by RIA Novosti, students will study the modular programming of drones and learn to pilot them using remote controls or smartphones.

In addition to UAVs, the cabinets will be equipped with an extended set of military and field equipment. The lists include models of Kalashnikov automatic rifles and Makarov pistols, F-1 and RGD training grenades, as well as electronic or pneumatic shooting ranges. Also, sapper shovels, military pots and flasks, night vision devices, binoculars, and military radio stations will be purchased.

A separate chapter is dedicated to tactical medicine and civil defense. Classrooms should feature hemostatic tourniquets, resuscitation mannequins, gas masks, and individual general protection suits (OZK). The additional list also provides for the purchase of mini-laboratories for radiological and chemical research, as well as digital gas analyzers.

The discipline “Fundamentals of Homeland Security and Defense” was introduced into the curriculum starting from September 1, 2024. In grades V-VII, the subject is taught at the school’s discretion, and from grade VIII it becomes mandatory. In high school, lessons take place once a week.

In October, it was revealed that the OBZR textbooks also included instructions on how to enlist in the military service on a contract basis, notes the cited source.
