Trump stated that the United States is prepared to defend Ukrainian airspace, if necessary, as part of security guarantees. The American leader did not rule out even the “closing of the sky” over Ukraine.
Additionally, Washington could convey to Kiev the necessary technologies for the production of Patriot defense systems.
“A little bird whispered to me that we will grant them the right to manufacture Patriot. We will teach them how to do it,” said Donald Trump, reports The Moscow Times.
Although he considers the Patriot systems to be technically complex, Trump asserts that Ukraine will quickly cope with production. At the same time, the American leader believes that Ukrainian attacks deep into Russia represent an escalation, but could lead to the end of the war.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who also attended the meeting, stated that Washington and Kiev are discussing Ukraine’s ability to launch deep attacks into Russian territory. According to him, the purpose of these actions is to demonstrate to Moscow how difficult it is to defend its own airspace, thereby stimulating negotiations.
