The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has resumed threats following the statements of the British Defence Minister regarding the readiness to send peacekeeping troops to Ukraine.

Through spokesperson Maria Zaharova, Russia sent a warning to the United Kingdom on Thursday, February 26, after the British Defence Minister, John Healey, revisited the idea of deploying British peacekeeping troops in Ukraine. Moscow maintains that such a presence will not stop the war, but, on the contrary, will prolong it and increase the risk of an extended military confrontation, notes Agerpres.

“I want to be the Defence Secretary who deploys British troops in Ukraine, as this would mean that the war has finally ended,” is the most recent statement of the British Minister John Healey, which has sparked fury in Moscow.

The statement comes in a context where both France and the United Kingdom have particularly insisted on the deployment of troops in Ukraine following a potential ceasefire agreement with Russia. We remind you that, at the beginning of the year, at the “Coalition of Will” meeting organized in Paris, leaders Emmanuel Macron, Keir Starmer, and Volodimir Zelenski signed a declaration of intent regarding peacekeeping troops in Ukraine, in case of a peace agreement.
