The government intends to ask Parliament next week to repeal the state of emergency in the energy sector. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu at the beginning of the cabinet meeting, on April 1st.

Munteanu also mentioned that the environmental alert status has expired, reports realitatea.md. According to him, ministers Junghietu and Hajder are due to present the necessary reports.

“The state of emergency in the energy sector and I’ve said it from the first day and I want to repeat – this measure was never political. It was a necessary one. It gave us a tool to intervene quickly. The Vulcănești – Isaccea line has been put back into operation. Thank you to the teams. I have sent letters to our partners from different countries. Putting back into operation does not mean that the system is stable and secure from the first day.”

After repair works, testing and rebalancing follow. It takes a few days to confirm that there are no major deficiencies and that we can return to normal operation, to stable supply contracts and not to emergency solutions. “Emergency solutions cost us a lot,” the prime minister explained the need for declaring a state of emergency.

After the Isaccea – Vulcănești line was damaged and disconnected for repair, following Russian bombings, a state of emergency was declared in the energy sector in the Republic of Moldova for 60 days.
