The ambassadors of the NATO member states met on Wednesday in the North Atlantic Council to discuss recent violations of the airspace in Romania and Poland, as well as incidents involving drones, according to a statement released by the Alliance.
The representatives of the NATO states “expressed their full solidarity and support for the affected allies,” the Alliance declared in a press release.
NATO states that “allies have reiterated that Russia bears the full responsibility for airspace violations, which are dangerous and unacceptable, and demonstrate Russia’s increasing tolerance for risk”.
The allies “are united and determined in defending allied territory”, according to the statement.
“They praised the swift actions of NATO and national authorities in responding decisively to events. NATO continues to strengthen its integrated air and missile defense across the Alliance, and Allies have highlighted the actions they have taken to enhance defense on the eastern flank, from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. NATO is prepared to deter and defend against any aggression,” the Alliance notes.
The support for Ukraine was reiterated.
“The Allies have reaffirmed their full support for Ukraine in defending its freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity and in pursuing peace. The Allies emphasized that they will not be deterred by Russia’s irresponsible actions in their enduring commitment to Ukraine, whose security contributes to our own”, NATO concluded.
