The Kremlin announced on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin and American President Donald Trump have agreed in a weekend phone call to discuss again “in the near future.” Moscow suggests that it could happen this week, during or after the NATO summit.

Trump plans to meet with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenski on Wednesday, in Turkey. The American leader will attend the NATO summit and would try to mediate peace in Ukraine again, according to a high-ranking American official, reports Agerpres.

Most likely, Trump will probably discuss with Putin after he meets with Zelenski. The information about the upcoming phone call was confirmed by the Kremlin’s spokesperson, Dmitri Peskov.

Peskov said that Trump had a consistent stance on the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, the American leader would be open to hearing what Putin has to convey.
