A new wave of forced recruitment into the Russian army has begun, targeting those considered the easiest to intimidate and pressure, according to the partisan movement Ateș. In a report published on Telegram, the group claimed that Moscow has issued strict directives to regional authorities to intensify the recruitment of soldiers.
It seems that regions that failed to meet the quotas have intensified the activity of military recruitment offices and security forces, reports Kyiv Post. According to partisans, men with large debts listed in the databases of judicial executors, as well as former detainees under administrative supervision, have become primary targets.
Ateș asserts that these individuals are being detained en masse and forced to sign contracts with the Russian Armed Forces. According to the group, authorities resort to threats of new criminal cases and other forms of coercion to force them to comply. The movement links this intensified campaign to the heavy losses suffered by Russia on the battlefield and the ever-increasing personnel deficit. According to the group, the current rate of recruitment through contracts is no longer sufficient to compensate for the losses suffered by the Russian forces.
“If they try to recruit you into the army in this way – do not sign anything under threats and leave the country at the first opportunity”, the movement declared.
