The FBI, along with several partners, including the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI), have dismantled a prolonged cyber attack. The revelation was made by the leader from Cotroceni, Nicușor Dan.
The Romanian president maintains that Russian forces could be behind the actions. According to him, the sensitive infrastructure of several Western states was targeted.
“Cyber actors associated with the GRU, the Russian military’s intelligence service, were collecting military, governmental, and critical infrastructure-related information. Russia continues, therefore, the hybrid war against Western countries and only those in bad faith do not see this,” announced Nicușor Dan.
The official from Bucharest emphasized, in this context, that Romania needs to improve its cybersecurity and continue to collaborate with its Western partners in this regard.
