Norway has launched a military training center for Ukrainian soldiers, Camp Jomsborg, at the border with Ukraine, in Poland. The project, one of the largest of its kind in Norway’s history, will train up to 1,200 soldiers simultaneously and will utilize Ukraine’s experience from the ongoing war, reports TVP World.

The Polish Minister of Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, was accompanied at the inauguration ceremony by his Norwegian counterpart, Tore O. Sandvik, as well as the Estonian Minister of Defense, Hanno Pevkur, and high-ranking officials from Lithuania, Latvia, Sweden, Iceland, and Ukraine.

Kosiniak-Kamysz welcomed the initiative, carried out at the Nowa Dęba-Lipa Land Forces Training Center, located near the southeast border of Poland with Ukraine, emphasizing that it has the “capacity to train Ukrainian military personnel on a large scale, in a good location close to Ukraine.”

“Right next to us is a drone launch pad,” said the Defense Minister, adding that Poland and its allies will benefit from Ukraine’s battlefield experience.

“This is a place to study the experiences of the ongoing war in Ukraine, to implement the best anti-drone solutions of the army, and to utilize the drone capabilities possessed by the Ukrainian army,” he specified.

The center, named Camp Jomsborg, previously functioned as a Norwegian training unit for Ukrainian military instructors. The Norwegian Minister of Defense, Tore O. Sandvik, conveyed on X that Camp Jomsborg is a symbol of regional solidarity: “united, we help Ukraine defend its sovereignty and strengthen its frontline forces.”
