The agreement on military-technical cooperation signed with Ukraine does not provide for direct military assistance but is aimed at protecting Moldova’s population and airspace, Anatolie Nosatîi says.
According to the defence minister, the opposition’s criticism serves the Russian Federation’s agenda. The minister also noted that Moldova has signed more than 120 military-related agreements, newsmaker.md reports. The agreements cover training, logistics, medicine and cybersecurity.
Belarus, Russia, and Turkey are among the countries that have signed such documents with Moldova.
According to the official, the agreement signed in Kyiv on October 26, 2026, provides for cooperation in logistics and communications systems, specialist training, the protection of critical infrastructure, and the transfer of knowledge and technology. The document also covers joint research and development projects in military production, strengthening cyber defense capabilities, and developing airspace surveillance technologies.
“Therefore, any actions taken to implement this agreement cannot be construed as providing direct military assistance to a state engaged in armed conflict. (…) The sole purpose of the partnership is to protect the population and airspace from Russian drones and other dangers and threats to national security,” Anatolie Nosatîi said.
After it is signed, the document will be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then ratified by Parliament. The full text will subsequently be published on Parliament’s official website.
