The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in Chisinau is launching measures to strengthen the level of protection at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border crossing points, against the backdrop of recent drone incidents.
This is about arranging protective locations and shelters for emergency situations, at border crossing points and near them, both for civilians and for border personnel.
The planning of procedures for the evacuation of personnel and the suspension of activities in exceptional situations is still underway, including in the event of damage to the infrastructure at the border points on the territory of Ukraine, the development of practical instructions for the response of patrols on the green border in case of air attacks, the assessment and completion of equipment stocks and individual medical kits, as well as the relocation of fuel stocks from dangerous areas.
“The measures are preventive in nature and aim to protect the employees of the Border Police, the Customs Service, and other institutions operating at border crossing points, as well as citizens and transit carriers,” the authority informs.
The respective works have already begun at several border crossing points considered vulnerable, and are to be gradually implemented at others, depending on the risks.
