The authorities in Moscow have introduced a ban on publishing information about the consequences of drone attacks without official confirmation. The announcement was published on the city government’s portal.

“In order to ensure public safety, Moscow is introducing restrictions on the publication of text, photo, and video materials that reflect the consequences of terrorist acts, including the results of drone attacks,” the statement said.

The restrictions also target information about the effects of attacks with “other means of destruction”, as well as about “actions intended to cause harm to life and health of people or property, including critical infrastructure”.

The authorities specify that state institutions, subordinate organizations, the media, emergency services, other organizations and citizens will not be able to disseminate such information before it appears in official sources – on the platforms of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the mayor’s office or the Moscow government, or on the channels of Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

The only exceptions are non-public notifications to law enforcement agencies and emergency services.
