“Romania is proud to be a reliable ally of the United States”. This is the message conveyed by Nicușor Dan to Donald Trump, in an editorial published in The Washington Times.

Dan published the article, in the context of commemorating 25 years since the attacks on the twin towers in New York, reports hotnews.ro. The leader from Cotroceni has repeatedly praised the special relationship between the USA and Romania and mentioned the operations in which Romanian soldiers have supported the Americans.

“Romania’s support came not only from alliance obligations, but also from conviction. We know from our own history that freedom is precious and fragile. We know that democratic societies must remain united when threatened.”

My message to America and to President Trump always begins and ends like this: Romania is proud to be a reliable ally of the United States. Romanians recognize that our relationship has a special significance, rooted in history and shared experience, writes Nicușor Dan.

Some voices suggest that the gesture could represent an attempt by the president to get his public messages to the White House, as the political landscape in the US becomes increasingly tense, against the backdrop of the American Congress elections.
