The Mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, announced on Sunday, January 25, that over 1,300 apartment buildings in the Ukrainian capital continue to lack heating following this week’s Russian missile and drone attacks.

Klitschko stated on Telegram that since Saturday evening, energy company workers have restored heating supply to about 2,000 buildings, leaving 1,330 buildings without heating.

President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is in Vilnius, stated that “just this week, the Russians have launched over 1,700 attack drones, over 1,380 guided bombs, and 69 missiles of various types.”

“That’s why we need missiles for anti-aircraft defense systems every day and we continue to cooperate with the United States and Europe to ensure better protection of our airspace”, he added.

Russia continues to bomb Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, leaving hundreds of thousands of people without electricity and heat in the middle of winter.

Due to the critical situation, President Volodymyr Zelensky declared a state of emergency in the energy sector, and in Kiev, the attacks have forced the evacuation of about half a million residents.
