More than three months after the USA temporarily lifted sanctions on Russian oil imports, the exemptions could be revoked. It is estimated that the measure could be reinstated, following the signing of the agreement between the Americans and the regime in Tehran.
If maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is resumed, the USA is now prepared to allow the cancellation of waivers, announced Donald Trump at the G7 summit, writes The Moscow Times.
“We will be able to do this soon, as the oil from the Persian Gulf is already arriving,” Trump told the press.
The third final license for operations with Russian oil and petroleum products already loaded on ships was issued on May 18 and expires on June 17. Two days ago, the USA and Iran announced a memorandum of understanding, which provides, among other things, the gradual resumption of maritime transport through the Strait of Hormuz. The agreement between Washington and Tehran is expected to be signed in Geneva, on June 19.
