A Russian drone attack targeted the headquarters of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) on Friday. The building is located in the historic center of Kiev.

Vladimir Zelenski announced on social media that the “chief’s office” of the institution was directly targeted, according to news.ro. The bombed building also houses the Ukrainian military intelligence service.

“I have spoken with the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Oleksandr Poklad. Unfortunately, a Russian drone has hit the central building of the Security Service of Ukraine on Volodîmîrska Street in Kiev, located opposite the Saint Sophia Cathedral. All emergency services are on the scene. All those affected will receive the necessary assistance. The drone was directed straight at the office of the head of the Security Service,” announced Vladimir Zelenski.

Images of the moment of the explosion, as well as of the building engulfed in flames, have appeared on Ukrainian Telegram channels. Zelenski maintains that he has given instructions for the military to provide an “adequate and concrete response, and where possible, one that reflects this attack.”
