Donald Tusk has convened a high-level security meeting after Ukrainian railway officials declared that a Russian drone struck the locomotive of a train on the Kiev-Warsaw route on Sunday. Poland has entered a heightened state of alert.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk has warned that Poland must prepare for the possible use by Moscow of jet-powered drones, after Russia hit targets near the country’s border with Ukraine, railway officials claiming that a passenger train’s locomotive was struck.
Tusk made these statements on Sunday, during a high-level security meeting he convened in response to Russian attacks near the Polish border. The meeting held at the Government Security Center in Warsaw was attended by defense and interior ministers, as well as representatives of Polish security services.
“There is no doubt that we need to be prepared, together with our allies, to respond if necessary. The attacks last night indicate that the Russians are ready to use more dangerous equipment than before,” said Tusk. “I’m referring here to reaction drones. Their range and precision are concerning,” he added.
