On Tuesday, Warsaw rejected the claim made by Russian President Vladimir Putin that Poland would claim parts of western Ukraine, reports the German press agency DPA, as quoted by Agerpres.
“Poland has not made any territorial claims against Ukraine, is not making any at present, and does not intend to do so in the future,” conveyed the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.
On the contrary, Poland fully acknowledges the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine within its legally defined and internationally recognized borders, the cited institution specified.
“Moscow’s insinuations about alleged plans to annex the western territories of Ukraine, including by Poland, constitute a crude attempt at disinformation,” concluded Polish diplomacy.
Warsaw is among the strongest supporters of Ukraine in the war initiated by Russia in 2022.
DPA reminds that the recent statements of the Russian president about the territorial claims of Ukraine’s neighbors come against the backdrop of increased tensions between Warsaw and Kiev.
