The main Hungarian opposition party, Tisza, led by Viktor Orban’s great political enemy, Peter Magyar, has a ten percent lead over the ruling party, Fidesz, according to the most recent poll for the parliamentary elections in the neighboring country, which are set to take place on April 12 Viktor Orban is in the most vulnerable political position since he took over the leadership of Hungary, with real chances of being “dethroned” after he led Hungary continuously for 16 years.

The Tisza party, which identifies itself as center-right, is led by Orban’s greatest political enemy, Peter Magyar. The two were once allies.

Magyar promises to solve Hungary’s corruption problems, reconnect the country to European funds and firmly re-anchor Hungary in the European Union and NATO.

Viktor Orban, on the other hand, remains a staunch opponent of the European Union and a convinced pro-Russian, being the European leader with the most frequent visits to Moscow, where he meets with Putin’s acolytes and the Russian dictator himself.

The most recent poll, conducted between January 31 and February 6 by the Idea institute, shows that 48% of decided voters will choose the opposition formation, while only 38% want to give Orban another chance.
