The drone that crashed in Galați is of the Geran-2 type and is of Russian origin. The information was presented by the Romanian president Nicușor Dan.
The official mentioned that this is the conclusion of the technical report completed by Romanian specialists, reports newsmaker.md. According to the president, the results of the investigation will be communicated to Romania’s NATO and EU allies.
“On the recovered fragments, the inscription in Cyrillic characters “ГЕРАН-2″ was identified, and the electronic components, navigation systems, control modules, engine, and analyzed construction elements present similarities up to identity with those of other Geran-2 drones previously recovered on Romanian territory and certainly identified as being manufactured in the Russian Federation,” announced Dan.
The Romanian president further conveyed that, according to the report, “physico-chemical analyses have confirmed the presence of the same types of materials and fuels repeatedly identified in devices of this series”.
