During the massive attack carried out by Russia with missiles and drones on Ukraine on the night of October 4 to 5, at least three Chinese reconnaissance satellites were observed over the western regions of the country, the most affected by the attack, writes The Moscow Times, citing the publication “Military” and data from the Heavens Above monitoring service.
These would be the Yaogan 33, Yaogan 33-03, and Yaogan 33-04 satellites.

They were reported over the Lviv region, making a total of nine passes over this area between midnight and 11:30.

Subsequently, the Yaogan 34 reconnaissance satellite was also observed.

According to sources quoted by The Moscow Times, orbital parameters allow over 60 different types of Yaogan satellites to operate over Ukraine.

These are satellites capable of carrying out optical, radar, and electronic reconnaissance.

The Moscow Times report comes after the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service announced that Beijing is transferring satellite-collected data to Moscow for attacks on Ukrainian territory.

Spokesperson Oleg Alexandrov said there is high-level cooperation between China and Russia in the field of satellite reconnaissance to identify and study strategic targets in detail, including those owned by foreign investors.
