Russia launched a record number of missiles at Ukraine in February 2026. According to an analysis by Agence France-Presse, based on the daily reports of the Ukrainian Air Forces, Moscow fired 288 missiles in a single month — the highest monthly level since the beginning of 2023.
The figure is more than twice as high as in January, when 135 missiles were launched, and it surpasses the previous record of 270, registered in October 2025.
In addition to missiles, in February, 5,059 long-range drones were also launched — 13% more than in the previous month.
Last winter, considered the harshest for Ukraine since the beginning of the war, massive bombings on civilian infrastructure caused widespread power and heat outages, leaving hundreds of thousands of people without electricity and heating.
Kiev and the European Union states accuse Russia of systematically destroying the energy infrastructure for the fourth consecutive year, in an attempt to weaken the resistance of the civilian population.
President Volodimir Zelenski stated that, during the three winter months, Russia used against Ukraine over 14,600 guided bombs, 738 missiles and nearly 19,000 attack drones, most of them of the “Shahed” type, of Iranian production.
Currently, in several regions of Ukraine, scheduled power disconnections are being implemented to compensate for the network deficit.
