    Donald Trump is trying once again to get closer to Kim Jong Un, resorting to a strategy he used during his first term. The American president announced the reduction of joint military exercises with South Korea and boasted about his good relationship with the North Korean leader.

    Donald Trump returns to one of the tactics used in his first term to restart the dialogue with Kim Jong Un: reducing military exercises between the United States and South Korea. However, this time, the gesture comes in a much more complicated context, because in the meantime, North Korea has become an even more formidable adversary.

    Analysts assert that, currently, Kim enjoys a much stronger international status, being supported by the crucial backing provided by Russia and China, as well as by a growing economy.

    Trump took the first step on Sunday, August 16, when he called for a reduction in joint military exercises with South Korea and invoked his good relationship with Kim Jong Un. Just a day later, on Monday, August 17, the American president posted a message on Truth claiming that the North Korean leader responded to recent messages and described the reaction as “very positive,” without providing details.
