The radar surveillance system of the Ministry of Defense of Romania detected on Wednesday, at 13:20, an aerial target located approximately 30 kilometers from the town of Vâlcove, Ukraine.
The military notified the rescuers and asked them to alert the population in the north of Tulcea county, reports Agerpres. People received an RO-Alert message starting at 14:09.
Two Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft of the British Air Forces were lifted from the ground at the Fetești Air Base. Their mission was supported by an IAR 330 Puma helicopter of the Romanian Air Forces.
The aircraft took off at 14:10, to monitor the situation at the border with Ukraine. So far, there is no information about any violation of Romanian airspace or any aircraft falling to the ground.
