The Russian Ambassador to Bucharest, Valentin Lipaev, was summoned Monday to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the drone incidents. The diplomat was presented with fragments of Shahed.

Lipaev also received a note declaring one of the embassy officials undesirable in Romania. He must leave the country within five days.

“At the behest of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Ţoiu, the Russian Federation’s ambassador to Bucharest was summoned on Monday, July 27, 2026, to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The summons came as a firm response to the repeated violations of Romanian airspace during the period of July 24-26, 2026, during which the Romanian Army shot down three drones that had unauthorizedly entered national territory,” the Romanian diplomacy further conveyed.

Also, the Romanian ambassador in Moscow was consulted on the matter, reports news.ro. He is expected to arrive in Bucharest for discussions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
