The National Audiovisual Council (CNA) will request the social media giant TikTok to remove 90 videos related to the subject of the “Black Ambulance” or “Black Rescue”. Additionally, the platform will be asked to delete video sequences targeting the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, in the context of the energy crisis.
“The Black Ambulance” refers to the case of an ambulance in Cluj, which was attacked with axes, stones, and sticks, after people saw videos with stories about the fact that people, especially minors, are being kidnapped with such vehicles.
On August 11, the National Audiovisual Council analyzed the monitoring report prepared by the Control Directorate for content related to the subject “Black Ambulance” and identified 57 links (self-notifications) and 33 additional links to audiovisual materials referring to the subject, reports Agerpres.
At the same time, the Council members analyzed a post that appeared on August 7 on the Facebook account of Bales Victor, which contains a fragment from an interview given by President Maia Sandu, overlaid with the comment “And Bolojan complied and every evening sends over 700 MW to the Republic of Moldova, urging Romanian citizens to economize!” The Romanian authority decided to signal the Audiovisual Council of Chisinau, as it is a case of attempted manipulation.
The decision of the Romanian authority comes after the Cotidianul portal from the Republic of Moldova identified that on several pages, manipulative messages were being promoted suggesting that Romanians are urged to save during the full hydrological and energy crisis, so that light can be delivered to the Republic of Moldova.
Following the findings, it was decided to take action against illegal content. “All audiovisual media service providers have the obligation to ensure objective public information by accurately presenting facts and events, and to promote the free formation of opinions,” the officials from the Romanian authority conveyed.
