The Russian government is preparing to expand bans on the export of petroleum products, following a series of attacks on refineries, which led to the cessation of activity of almost all refineries in the central part of the country and reduced the fuel production capacity of oil companies by approximately 25%.

Following the ban on gasoline exports, in effect since the end of March, authorities are considering the possibility of restricting diesel and kerosene exports, reports Interfax, citing sources close to the situation.

According to them, the situation on the fuel market was discussed on Tuesday during a meeting led by Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Novak, in which representatives of oil companies participated.

Following the meeting, companies were advised to “limit exports” of petroleum products. One of the Interfax sources states that the decision to ban the exports of kerosene and diesel is in an advanced stage of preparation, although the exact timing of the measure’s implementation has not yet been established.
