Russia has launched its most recent nuclear submarine from its fleet, designed to carry the nuclear drone “Poseidon” — also known in the press as the “Apocalypse missile” — which is claimed to have the ability to “wipe off the map” entire coastal nations, according to reports in the Russian media.

The launching ceremony of the “Habarovsk” submarine was led by the Russian Minister of Defense, Andrei Belousov, in the presence of the Commander of the Navy, Admiral Aleksander Moiseiev, and other high-ranking officials from the naval industry. The event took place at the Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk, the largest military shipbuilding complex in Russia.

“Today we mark an important moment – the launch of the nuclear-powered submarine Habarovsk, built at the prestigious Sevmash shipyard,” Belousov said in a televised speech on Saturday evening.

According to the TASS news agency, the Russian Minister of Defense emphasized that the submarine, equipped with modern underwater weapons and robotic systems, will allow the Russian Federation to ensure the protection of its maritime borders and defend its national interests in various regions of the world’s oceans.
